Job Title: School-Based Physical Therapist (PT) 
RATES BETWEEN $45 - 60 / HOUR!

Job Summary:

The Physical Therapist is responsible for evaluating and providing physical therapy services to students in a school setting, primarily working with students who have physical disabilities, developmental delays, and medical conditions that affect their mobility and physical functioning. The PT collaborates with teachers, special education staff, and parents to develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) to support the students' physical, motor, and functional goals.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Evaluation and Assessment:
    Conduct thorough evaluations of students' physical abilities, motor skills, and functional mobility needs.
  • Developing Treatment Plans:
    Develop individualized treatment plans and strategies based on evaluations, IEP goals, and student needs.
  • Providing Therapy:
    Deliver one-on-one and group therapy sessions to students to improve strength, balance, coordination, mobility, and overall physical function.
  • Collaboration:
    Work closely with teachers, special education staff, occupational therapists, speech therapists, and parents to ensure therapy goals are integrated into the student's daily activities.
  • Documentation and Reporting:
    Maintain accurate records of student progress, assessments, and treatment plans. Regularly update parents and staff about the student’s physical therapy progress.
  • Consultation and Training:
    Provide training to staff on how to accommodate students' physical needs in the classroom setting, including the proper use of assistive devices or equipment.
  • Compliance:
    Ensure that therapy services comply with state and federal regulations, including those outlined in the Individual with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA) and the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA).

    Qualifications:

  • Licensing:
    A valid state license to practice physical therapy (PT).
  • Education:
    Masters degree from an accredited program.
  • Experience:
    Previous experience working with children or in a school-based environment is often preferred.
  • Skills:
    Strong communication and interpersonal skills to work with students, parents, and school staff. Ability to create individualized therapy programs and adjust them as necessary.
  • Physical Demands:
    Ability to assist with students’ physical needs, including lifting and supporting students with mobility challenges.

    Work Environment:

  • Location:
    This position is typically within a public or private school district, working across elementary, middle, and high school campuses.
  • Schedule:
    Full-time or part-time positions are common. The hours usually align with the school day, and the position may follow the academic calendar (with summer off).

    Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience working with children who have special needs (e.g., cerebral palsy, autism, developmental delays).
  • Knowledge of adaptive equipment and assistive technology used in schools to aid students’ mobility and functional skills..
