School-Based Physical Therapist (PT) – Job Description
We are seeking a dedicated and collaborative Physical Therapist (PT) to join our educational team on a part-time basis (2 days/week). This role is a maternity leave coverage position, running from August through November, and will focus on supporting an elementary school caseload. The PT will work with students who experience physical and motor challenges, promoting access to learning, mobility, and independence within the school environment.
Key Responsibilities:
Evaluate students to identify physical and functional needs within the school setting
Develop and implement therapy goals as part of the IEP (Individualized Education Program) team
Provide direct and consultative physical therapy services to support student access and participation
Educate and train school staff and families on strategies, equipment use, and mobility support
Document services and maintain compliance with state and district guidelines
Qualifications:
Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT) or equivalent degree from an accredited program
Current state licensure as a Physical Therapist
Experience in pediatric or school-based settings preferred
Strong communication, collaboration, and problem-solving skills
