Job Summary:
We are seeking a skilled and compassionate Physical Therapist (PT) to join our team in a school setting near Howells Mill, VA. The PT will work with students to improve their physical abilities and functional independence. The ideal candidate will have a background in pediatric physical therapy and a commitment to supporting students' educational and developmental needs through tailored therapeutic interventions.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assessment and Evaluation: Conduct comprehensive evaluations of students' physical abilities, mobility, and functional skills. Develop and implement individualized treatment plans based on assessment findings.
  • Therapy and Intervention: Provide direct physical therapy services to students, focusing on improving motor skills, strength, coordination, and mobility. Address specific needs related to physical disabilities, injuries, or developmental delays.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with teachers, school staff, and parents to integrate therapy goals into the classroom and daily activities. Provide guidance on modifying the environment and activities to support students’ physical needs.
  • Documentation: Maintain accurate and detailed records of students' progress, treatment plans, and therapy sessions. Prepare and submit required reports and documentation.
  • Consultation: Offer advice and support to school staff and families on strategies to enhance students' physical participation in school activities and daily routines.
  • Professional Development: Stay informed about best practices in pediatric physical therapy. Participate in ongoing professional development to enhance skills and knowledge.

    Qualifications:

  • Doctorate or Master’s degree in Physical Therapy from an accredited program.
  • Valid state licensure as a Physical Therapist in Virginia.
  • Certification in Pediatric Physical Therapy preferred.
  • Previous experience working with children in a school or educational setting is highly desirable.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with students, families, and school personnel.
  • Knowledge of current physical therapy assessment tools, therapeutic techniques, and special education regulations.
