Blazer Jobs is currently interviewing for a full-time Physical Therapist to join a school-based team in Mason, MI. This is a full-time, contract role ideal for experienced professionals who are passionate about providing physical therapy services to students in an educational setting. Experience working with special education students and their families is highly preferred. To be considered, candidates must meet all local and state regulatory requirements.

Job Duties:
As a Physical Therapist in this role, your responsibilities will include:

  • Conducting evaluations: Assessing the physical therapy needs of students, particularly those with special education requirements.
  • Developing individualized therapy plans: Collaborating with the IEP team to create tailored therapy plans focused on improving students’ mobility, strength, and overall physical function.
  • Providing direct therapy: Delivering one-on-one or small group therapy sessions to students to meet their physical therapy goals and support their educational progress.
  • Tracking progress: Monitoring students’ progress towards their therapy goals and adjusting therapy plans as needed to ensure successful outcomes.
  • Collaborating with school staff: Working closely with teachers, special education staff, and other professionals to ensure a comprehensive and coordinated approach to student care.
  • Consulting with families: Offering guidance and support to families regarding physical therapy exercises, adaptive equipment, and strategies to enhance students’ physical development at home.
  • Maintaining documentation: Keeping accurate records of therapy sessions, progress reports, and any modifications to therapy plans.
  • Ensuring compliance: Adhering to all federal, state, and local regulations related to the delivery of physical therapy services in the school setting.

    Qualifications:
    To be considered for this position, candidates must meet the following requirements:

  • Active Physical Therapist License: Must hold a valid license to practice as a Physical Therapist in Michigan.
  • Experience: At least 1 year of experience as a Physical Therapist, ideally in a school or pediatric setting. Experience with special education students and families is highly preferred.
  • Regulatory Compliance: Must comply with all state and local regulations governing physical therapy services in schools.
  • Strong Communication Skills: Ability to collaborate effectively with teachers, staff, and families to support student success.
  • Background Check: Must pass a background check as required by the school district.
