As a Physical Therapist in this school-based role, your responsibilities will include:

  • Conducting comprehensive physical assessments and evaluations for students with physical impairments or mobility challenges.
  • Developing and implementing individualized therapy plans to improve students' strength, coordination, mobility, and functional skills.
  • Providing direct physical therapy services to students to help them achieve their therapy goals.
  • Collaborating with special education teachers, school staff, and other professionals to ensure that students receive comprehensive support.
  • Documenting therapy services and student progress in compliance with state and local regulations.
  • Supporting families by providing guidance on exercises, strategies, and approaches to facilitate progress at home.
  • Adhering to safety protocols and best practices while providing therapy services to students.

    Job Requirements:

  • Must hold a current Physical Therapist (PT) license in the state of New York and meet all local and state regulations.
  • Experience with special education students and families is highly preferred.
  • Familiarity with IEP (Individualized Education Plan) processes is essential.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate effectively with students, families, and staff.
  • Ability to work independently and manage a caseload while delivering quality therapy services to students.
  • A genuine passion for helping students reach their physical therapy goals in a school-based environment.
