Step into an opportunity supporting students with diverse needs in a dynamic school-based setting near Jamaica, NY. As a Physical Therapist, you'll be a vital resource for learners ages 5–21, many of whom have visual impairments or blindness alongside additional challenges such as developmental delays, neurological disorders, orthopedic conditions, and varying support needs. This is a contract position, with a start date of September 3rd and an ongoing schedule aligned with a 180-day school year plus a 30-day Extended School Year program.

Key Qualifications:

  • Valid licensure as a Physical Therapist in New York
  • Prior experience providing school-based PT services, ideally with students ranging from mild to severe disabilities
  • Strong understanding of IEP development, therapy documentation, and student progress monitoring
  • Excellent collaboration and communication skills, particularly in an interdisciplinary environment
  • Comfort working with both individual students and small groups, including those with complex needs
  • Responsibilities:

  • Deliver physical therapy services as mandated on students’ IEPs, including individual and small group sessions
  • Conduct comprehensive evaluations and re-evaluations, contributing critical insights to IEP meetings
  • Design and implement therapy plans targeting mobility, positioning, strength, balance, and functional motor skills in the school context
  • Document ongoing therapy sessions and maintain compliance with all reporting requirements
  • Collaborate with teachers, related service providers, and families to best support student inclusion and progress
