Qualifications 

• Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT) or Bachelor’s/Master's degree in Physical Therapy from a CAPTE-accredited program 

• Active Washington Physical Therapist license issued by the Washington State Board of Physical Therapy (WA DOH) 

• Active Washington Educational Staff Associate (ESA) Physical Therapist Certificate issued by the Office of Superintendent of Public Instruction (OSPI) (or eligibility) 

• Minimum of 2+ years of experience (school-based and/or teletherapy preferred) 

• Experience with Washington IEP procedures, gross motor assessments, and virtual service delivery is a plus 

• Strong clinical reasoning, organizational, and communication skills 

• Comfortable using teletherapy platforms, digital resources, and remote communication tools

Key Responsibilities Assessment & Intervention 

• Conduct virtual evaluations to assess gross motor function, postural control, functional mobility, and physical accessibility within the educational environment 

• Develop and implement individualized physical therapy treatment plans tailored to student needs in a remote format 

• Deliver direct teletherapy services focused on educational, functional mobility goals and monitor student progress 

• Use objective data to guide clinical decision-making and adjust gross motor intervention strategies

Collaboration & Support 

• Work closely with general and special education teachers, parents, administrators, and support staff to optimize student participation and access 

• Provide practical recommendations for classroom positioning, adaptive equipment, and gross motor carryover strategies 

• Participate actively in virtual IEP team meetings, multidisciplinary evaluation teams (MDT), and 504 reviews

Documentation & Compliance 

• Maintain accurate and timely documentation of direct service logs, progress notes, and IEP goal updates 

• Ensure all evaluations and therapeutic services strictly align with OSPI guidelines, Washington Administrative Code (WAC 392-172A), and IDEA mandates 

• Complete comprehensive evaluation summaries, eligibility documentation, and required compliance reports

Technology & Teletherapy Tools 

• Utilize virtual platforms and interactive digital tools to deliver engaging, movement-based therapy sessions 

• Adapt physical exercises, visual modeling guides, and activity modifications for an effective online learning environment 

• Guide onsite facilitators and families during remote sessions and assist with basic platform troubleshooting

Advocacy & Education 

• Support students in accessing appropriate physical accommodations, adaptive devices, and assistive mobility tools 

• Provide educational resources, training, and guidance to school personnel and families on pediatric physical development and environmental accessibility
